Molecular Epidemiology Core

In the post genome era, where the human genome has already been decoded, the up coming challenge is going to be to explore the common genetic variability that underlies diseases by finding linkage between genotypes and phenotypes. Employing molecular epidemiology approaches will allow for turning basic research discoveries into clinical applications. The aims of this Core Laboratory are to assist the molecular epidemiology research on campus, to provide hardware and software necessary for whole genome gene expression analyses, single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping analysis as well as the construction and storage of a comprehensive database. Currently, the core laboratory provides software analysis consulting and training courses for users within the Chang Gung campus. We have published a genome wide association study of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the American Journal of Human Genetics.
